Federal Form Guide provides general educational information about U.S. federal tax forms, schedules, information returns, filing procedures, and related topics.

Independent resource — not the IRS

FederalFormGuide.com is an independent website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, or any other government agency.

References to the IRS, Treasury, federal form numbers, government publications, and official documents are used for identification, explanation, commentary, and source attribution.

When you need an official federal tax form or controlling IRS instruction, use the current material on IRS.gov.

General information, not professional advice

Nothing on Federal Form Guide constitutes individualized tax, legal, accounting, financial, investment, or other professional advice.

Our articles are written for general informational purposes and cannot account for every taxpayer’s facts, filing status, entity structure, state law, treaty position, elections, prior-year history, IRS correspondence, or other circumstances.

Reading this website does not create an accountant-client, attorney-client, tax-preparer-client, fiduciary, representative, or other professional relationship.

We do not prepare or file returns

Federal Form Guide does not prepare tax returns, submit forms to the IRS on your behalf, receive tax payments, obtain transcripts for you, act under a power of attorney, or represent taxpayers in an IRS examination, collection matter, appeal, or other proceeding.

Any “download” button identified as an official IRS form is intended to direct readers to an IRS.gov resource. Completing or downloading a form through an IRS link does not create a service relationship with Federal Form Guide.

Tax information can change

Tax law, IRS forms, filing procedures, thresholds, contribution limits, credit amounts, mailing addresses, electronic filing requirements, disaster relief, and deadlines can change.

A page may display a revision date, tax year, reporting year, IRS posted date, or Last Verified date. Those dates provide useful context, but they do not guarantee that no later IRS development has occurred.

Before acting on time-sensitive information, verify the current final form, instructions, and recent developments on IRS.gov.

No guarantee of completeness or error-free content

We work to improve accuracy and use primary sources, but no general information website can guarantee that every page is complete, current, or error-free in every circumstance.

Federal forms can contain exceptions that apply only to specific facts. An article may summarize a rule without reproducing every limitation, definition, worksheet, election, transition rule, or special situation contained in the official instructions or tax law.

If you identify a suspected error, please use our Contact Us page. Our process is described in the Corrections Policy.

Official forms and filing responsibility

You are responsible for determining which forms, schedules, statements, elections, attachments, signatures, records, payments, and filing methods apply to your situation.

Always confirm that you are using the correct final IRS product for the relevant tax or reporting period. Do not rely on a draft form merely because it has a newer date.

Deadlines and payments

References to filing dates are general unless a page states otherwise. Weekends, legal holidays, federally declared disasters, combat-zone rules, international filing circumstances, extensions, and other relief can affect a deadline.

An extension of time to file does not necessarily extend the time to pay. Interest and penalties may continue even when a filing extension or payment arrangement exists.

External links

Federal Form Guide links to IRS.gov and may link to other government or third-party websites for reference. We do not control external websites, their availability, their security practices, their content, or changes made after we link to them.

An external link is not an endorsement of every statement, product, service, or policy on the destination website.

Security and sensitive information

Do not send Federal Form Guide Social Security numbers, Employer Identification Numbers, tax-return copies, bank account numbers, payment-card details, identity documents, IRS online-account credentials, or other sensitive taxpayer information.

Federal Form Guide does not need private taxpayer records to explain a public IRS form or investigate a public-page correction.

Professional help

If a tax issue could materially affect your liability, refund, eligibility, filing status, business, foreign reporting, retirement account, IRS dispute, or legal rights, consider obtaining advice from a qualified professional who can review the complete facts.
